PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Adwin-Gold Digital Signal Processor
The ADwin-Gold is a real time control and data acquisition system manufactured by Jaeger in Germany. This system has a dedicated Analog Devices SHARC DSP processor, local memory and high speed 16-bit resolution analog input and output. The time critical processes are designed to run independently of the PC operating system. The ADbasic programming language and powerful SHARC DSP combined with fast A/D and D/A converters provide real-time response within one microsecond. The ADwin system performs all tasks on a priority basis regardless of the PC workload. If the PC crashes, the ADwin system will continue to run, maintaining control and collecting data. The PC can then access the process once it has been rebooted.

The ADwin system with ADbasic is the workhorse of the process. Process control, data acquisition and data processing required for crack length determination, crack closure measurement, K-control and data processing required for fracture toughness are performed in this environment. MS Visual Basic provides the interface between the process and user. All communication with the ADwin system is handled with this approach. The software supports a graphical display of the force and displacement signals as well as an on-line display of crack growth rates as a function of the K or J controlling parameters. Display forms include input parameters, test status parameters, data acquisition and control parameters. Data acquisition and control are continuous with flexibility to modify test parameters “on the fly” as necessary.
